Dr. Jaz, ND

Naturopath

Dr Jaz

Greetings,

I'm Dr. Jaz, a dedicated naturopathic doctor (ND). My passion lies in the practice of
naturopathic medicine because it allows me to connect with my patients on a
personal level and truly understand their unique needs. I understand that it can be
intimidating to open up to someone new, so let me break the ice by sharing a bit
about myself.

My academic journey began at the University of Victoria, where I initially pursued
general sciences until I discovered my true calling in kinesiology. As an avid
enthusiast of exercise and sports, kinesiology became the perfect fit for me. I was
drawn to a career that viewed medicine from a holistic lifestyle perspective,
encompassing elements such as exercise, nutrition, and mental-emotional well-being

After completing my undergraduate degree, I embarked on a path that led me to
work in an outpatient rehabilitation facility for my master's thesis. It was here that
I realized the profound value of both quantitative and qualitative research. What I
found most fulfilling was the deep personal connections I forged with my research
subjects. Despite the data not always showing measurable improvements, they
expressed gratitude for the care provided by me and my research team during
their rehabilitation journey. This experience left me seeking a more fulfilling
direction beyond academia.

In an honest leap of faith, I discovered naturopathic medicine as a potential career
path. Committing to another four years of intensive schooling was both challenging
and rewarding. What I cherish most about this field is its flexibility, allowing me to
practice in a way that aligns with my values and beliefs.

Fast forward to graduation, which coincided with the onset of the pandemic, I took
some time off to welcome a new addition to my family. Approximately six months
later, I established my own practice within a crossfit gym, where I also coach. Now,
a year later, I'm thrilled to announce my role as the first naturopathic doctor at
SpineWorks.

Beyond my professional life, my current passions include spending quality time
with my family, coaching and participating in crossfit, competing in beach
volleyball on the local pro circuit, and experimenting with new recipes in the
kitchen. I have a deep appreciation for nature and aspire to make camping and
hiking an integral part of my son's upbringing.

When you come to see me, here's what you can expect:

We'll discuss a wide range of topics, from digestive health, muscle and joint
concerns, hormonal changes, sleep quality, and energy levels to personal goals,
significant life events, and cognitive challenges. I firmly believe that an individual's
health reflects their biology/genetics, lifestyle, thoughts/beliefs, and emotions.
Therefore, I ensure that all these facets are addressed during our consultation.

In terms of treatment, my approach centers on education and lifestyle
modifications. This could be as straightforward as emphasizing the importance of
sleep or making connections between certain foods and their impact on one's well-being. To support lifestyle changes, I offer personalized supplement plans and
ensure that my patients understand the rationale behind their use and duration.
Additionally, I utilize blood work, including food sensitivity testing and hormone
panels, to inform the most effective treatment strategies. I'm also licensed to
practice acupuncture, enabling me to address muscle and joint pain, reduce stress,
and stimulate the body's innate healing abilities.

My ultimate goal is to empower people with knowledge and confidence in their
innate potential for healing. Whether you're looking to fine-tune your body or
grappling with a debilitating illness, I'm here to listen and provide the best of my
abilities.

If you have any questions about whether my approach aligns with your needs,
please don't hesitate to reach out. You can contact me by phone at 250-588-7708
or via email at info@drjaznd.ca to arrange a complimentary 15-minute phone

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your journey to better
health and well-being.

Warm regards,

Dr. Jaz
